Welcome again
Please do take the time to read all this below because at Pedal Studio, there is no receptionist on site to welcome you and show you around. You will be given the door security code and you will let yourself in. So please read this and think of this as time well spent whilst you munch away at your lunch on your firms time ~ it means no messing about at the studio. You get there , get in and kick off with your training.

Choosing your first class
Many New Riders are unsure about what class to pick and they want to find a ‘Beginners class’ which does not exist in the Spinning® programme. New Riders are nervous and think Spinning® is hectic. This is not so, especially at Pedal Studio®. The reason being is that we run very controlled classes through the use of our Heart Rate system. Everything is about training in your correct heart rate zone which is often at 55% of your maximum heart rate and thus very easy to get to, not hectic.
Further, in all classes, a very fit person may be in the same class as you and they will be in their correct training zone and you will be in yours even if this is the first bit of exercise you have done in years! Both of you will be riding to your desired training levels in the same class. The Heart Rate system is the key that brings parity between differing levels of riders within the same class and is exactly why Pedal Studio® provides this for free.
Spinning® is all about riding your ride. You can do this in any class, high or low impact and instructors know this and will not challenge you as a ‘New Rider’ to ride out of your chosen ride zone.
The answer is to choose a class that suites your time schedule. In the first week try as many classes and instructors as possible – that’s the idea of the £12-4-7. At times you may need to take a break, just sit back and spin your legs out and get your heart rate down. No one will be shouting at you for not keeping to the ‘correct’ zone of that class.
The key is to enjoy the classes, build a routine and stick to it. In time (+- 2 weeks) your respiratory system will be the first shred of evidence that the training is paying off. Your breathing will ease up when you riding ( allowing you to breath and talk whilst training in higher Heart Rate zones) and your max heart rate will most likely come down ( ie the max beat per minute actually reduces – your heart, a muscle gets stronger and thus a stronger hearts takes less beats to get the blood circulating – don't forget to adjust your max heart rate on the booking system which we will then load to the Suunto Heart Rate system in the studio). You will battle to get into the high ‘red’ zone you used to reach so easily and we will have to adjust the Suunto Heart Rate system for you to recognise this decrease in Max Heart rate. This will be your first major goal and achievement and the good thing is that it is measurable and tangible, you can scientifically prove you have benefited! Weight loss and Muscle toning will come in time but first you need to look after the ‘engine under the hood’ before you work on the ‘body works’ around the engine.
Pick a class, arrive 10 minutes before class, tell the instructor you are new to Pedal Studio® when you get in so they help you with bike set up and the Heart Rate system and get riding!
Booking your first class
Please note – the system is programmed to know how to accommodate your first 7 days of rides to be covered by the £12 4 7 days. Once you are out of this period you will need to purchase rides. If you cannot make your first ride in the £12 4 7 , the 7 days starts to count down from your first booking so book again soon to get rides in the first 7 days. Please understand we cannot re-set this introductory deal under any circumstance so please work with us and the system – we are doing our best but there are no back office staff to reset starts, that is why we can afford to offer all this so cheaply!
What to do once the first 7 days are over
Your profile will ask you to purchase credits once the first 7 days are complete. Rides are available on a pay-as-you ride basis and in batches of 5 and 10 rides. Once you have purchased your credits continue to book in as normal and you will see the credits starting to decrease on your account.
Cost and Payments
We have a number of ride options available so check out the Prices page for more info. Go on line and purchase and pay for your rides. You will then be able to book a bike.
Facilities
We have shower facilities available at the studio and lockers for your personal belongings. Towels are available at £1 per towel.
Entry to the Studio
Please use this PIN number that is emailed to you ( when you book it will be sent to you) to gain entry to the studio and please remember to shut the door firmly after you.
Using the Suunto (Heart rate monitor) system
We provide you with the Suunto Team heart rate monitor at the Studio. It is a black round hardened plastic monitor with a unique number on it that links it to the PC running the Suunto software. The monitor sits on your chest (under your shirt ) to read you hear rate. Attached to this round disk are the washable stretchy straps that we provide in the studio, but should you prefer to purchase your own, please click here.
To use our free Heart Rate Monitors all we ask is that you leave a cell phone or house keys in our Heart Rate box whilst you use it. On entry, look on the lap top screen to see what number HR disk you have been allocated. Note the number of the belt and grab it from the box.
When you class is finished please check your belt back on the system ‘return’ and leave the disk in the box that correlates to the number of the disk you used.
Indemnity Forms
In order to register you will need to accept our Terms and Conditions and Indemnity form which is required as per our insurance policy. On creating an account this is performed by you.
Please do take time to update your health and medical questions.
If you are unsure about anything please email enquiry@pedalstudio.co.uk
Cancellations
Very importantly, please be aware we run a cancellation policy that does not allow for cancellations if there is less than 24hrs till the ride for free ~ although on the system you will be able to free up the bike for the riders on the waiting list (you will still be charged).
If you cancel a booking with less than 24hrs till ride time, you will still be charged for the ride but graciously freeing the bike up for a rider on the waiting list to take on the ride.
If you do want to cancel a class and you are more than 24hrs till the ride, then please log into your account and cancel this from here, you will then NOT be charged for the ride. You can control all your bookings from your account.
If you have any questions as to how this cancellation policy works please do email us
Riders mailing in to enquire about refunds for rides not taken or cancelled will be charged a ride credit for administration costs of dealing with the request that will be denied given our firm policy.
Waiting List
You can register your name to the waiting list, we accept 5 riders. You will be reminded a day before that you are on the list so that you take suitable riding gear with you to work in case someone should cancel and you can ride.
The rider at the top of the waiting list will be auto registered into a class if there is a cancellation and will be charged appropriate ride credits to cover the class. (except if there is less than 2hrs till ride time, then no auto allocation from the waitlist takes place. The waitlist and booking list get 'locked down' – why ? Imagine you sitting at your desk in central London and you get a mail 10 minutes before class saying congrats you in … will you be happy ?)
Please be aware that this is an automated process and if you decide to cancel you now booked class off the waitlist, you will be charged if there is less than 24hrs till ride time (like the normal cancellation policy, if there is more than 24hrs – you can cancell with no charge) and rider number 2 on the waiting list will get allocated the class – and the process repeats.
Please be very sure before allocating your name to the waiting list – be ready to ride ! Unlike the ride bookings, you can cancel yourself off the waiting list at anytime with no charge, even just before class. Please manage this wisely.
(Note: This may seem somewhat unfair but it is the way the new system works and once again, whilst an improvement on the last system as we now have a waiting list, this cannot be changed)
Finally – Because the system 'locks down' 2 hrs before class yet lets riders cancel out of the class ( at a charge), you may be on the waiting list and see only 12 of 15 bikes are booked yet there are 3 riders on the waitlist. If you physically come to the studio, it is very likely you will get a bike and the Instructor will allocate you a bike from the wait list. ( the only reason you would not be allocated a bike in that 2hr till ride time is because it locks down.
Riders mailing in to enquire about refunds for rides not taken or cancelled will be charged a ride credit for administration costs of dealing with the request that will be denied given our firm policy
Refunds
We DO NOT offer refunds under normal circumstance, this is subject to legitimate claims under charge backs through your debit card ( Bank ) as per the Consumer Act and we do not infringe on your rights to this.
